Fall has arrived! Every year we kick off our fall growing season with the biggest event of our year, our Fall Vegetable Seedling Sale! Stop by on Friday, Saturday or Sunday to shop from our extensive selection of fall appropriate plants, including over 30 varieties of tomatoes. Come with your trunk or SUV empty because we will also have plenty of garden soil, fertilizer, compost and garden tools available too; basically everything you need to set up your garden for fall.
This sale can be quite busy, please be patient with your fellow shoppers and our staff.

For the fourth year in a row we are hosting a big volunteer weekend at the nursery so we can get your help up potting all of our plants for the big fall seedling sale. We are offering a 50$ voucher in exchange for your help from 10am - 3pm. We also give away all of the extra seedlings to the volunteers at the end of the day, so you can load up for your fall garden too!

The Secrets of Seed Starting Workshop
Starting seeds can often be the trickiest part of a successful home garden. Its quite literally why we exist as a plant nursery! It can be so challenging to grow healthy, disease free, sturdy and weather acclimated starter plants that many home gardeners give up on it and just come get their plants from us instead.
This workshop will take place at our plant nursery in the Redland and is being taught by our seed starter and plant whisperer extraordinaire farmer Tiffany. She has been managing our seedling operation since the first day and is the keeper of the seedling secrets! She will give the group a tour of the nursery and explain why we made some of the design decisions we did when building it. After that we will gather in our potting shed to learn about all of the specialty materials we use and she will do lots of hands on demonstrations because seed starting is best learned with the body and the mind together.
This class is intimately sized so that we can all have a chance to participate in seed starting too! Each participant will get to start their own 72 cell tray of seedlings using the Little River Coop super-extensive seed stash, after which you'll get detailed instructions for taking care of your seed tray at home. Getting to start a tray from our seed collection is a pretty sweet deal if you have a garden you were going to buy plants for. We have thousands of seed varieties in our collection and you'll be able to choose and plant whatever you'd like, which will save you from having to buy lots of seed packets just to use a few seeds. If you take good care of your cell tray you'll have 72 healthy seedlings in just 3-4 short weeks that can be transplanted into your garden for fall.

This class is a bit long (sometimes it runs over so make sure you are free for about 3 hours to make sure you can finish your tray) and a bit expensive because its so involved (and long!) and requires so much material. Volunteer Opportunity at MCI
Join us for a special weekend opportunity to volunteer at the MCI garden.
This garden is a hidden gem in the midst of the hustle and bustle of downtown Miami. In the 7 years that our team has been in charge of cultivating this garden many new sky rises have gone up around us, a few of them directly across the street. The almost 7,000 square foot plot features an amazing collection of mature rare fruit trees; trees like Makrut Lime, Cattley Guava and Black Sapote create a seamless canopy around the perimeter of the garden. The middle of the space is wide open to the sun and features a series of oversized circular planting beds for annual vegetables and herbs. Check out the garden here.
Volunteer days are a great opportunity to spend time in nature with like minded people from all walks of life. Join our gardener team which is there to guide various activities like weeding, planting and pruning. We supply the necessary gardening tools, but it's a good idea to bring your own gloves, sun protection and water bottle.
